Big English Update
It has been 3 months since our last update on this part of the website. But we didn't sit still at all. Maybe some have seen the Dutch version of the
website and notice that we've been doing a lot! We don't want to whithhold any information so pour yourself a glass of G&T, sit back and enjoy: The Big English Update!
Start in two days
In the last update we we're proud we had a car. It feels like years ago because the car doesn't look the same anymore.
Joshua Van Ginkel from Trim-Line and Kevin Markestein from KG-Tuning decided our Panda looked a bit dull. They raided their personal
stack of wrapping foil, barbwire and all sorts of gadgets to pimp our car. The new colour: Applegreen with virgin-white. We even have cool
racing stripes now. Not to speak of the mean evil grill we have today.
Prepwork
After the car got her new colour it was time to do some prepwork. We knew our car was in good shape but we decided to have a look anyways.
It was good fortune we did this because some things needed to be fixed drastically. Our shock-absorbers were busted and some fittings needed to
be replaced. Luckily the mechanic of Fiat Aarsman decided to sacrifice his saturday-afternoon to help us.
Tires
One day we we're working on the Panda in Ton's frontyard, true ghetto style. One of our friends, Hessel, came by and commented: "You boys think you're going
to reach Mongolia with tires like that?". Unfortunatly he was right, our tires were shut. He started to call some of his friends and a couple of days later
he came by with a big smile on his face. If we jumped in our car and drove to Staphorst we could pick up four new 14-inch rims including brand new tires.
Van Nierop Banden, thanks a lot! After this good news a different tire company knocked on our door with the announcement they had a couple of spare tires. So the tire
problem is all fixed now.
Benefit-parties
To get our charity some money we decided to throw two benefit parties. One during queensday and one in June. The day before queensday we had a big
clothing sale. One of our neighbours got hold on a big stock of Jaguar clothing. Everybody we knew could get some nice new gear for a couple of bucks. The clothing
we didn't sell that day was offered to the public. It was one big succes.
In June we threw the first annual Dutch Beerpong Championship. All our friends could join with a team and to start playing they first had to donate a
few euro's to our charity. We had a real good laugh that night and made some money.
Press
Ofcourse we tried to get as much attention for our charity as we could get. After our first newspaper article they asked us for a second interview. One of the pictures
below was printed in the dutch newspapers. After this article a magazine called "Living in your area" came out. We shined on the cover of July's edition. This picture
is on top of this update. As I am typing this we are waiting on the camera crew of a dutch television called: Omroep Brabant. They found our website a couple of days ago
and they asked if they could make a little item about our charity in a show. They can show up any minute now.

Finally at last! We got it! Our very own sweet little Panda"bear". This 2001 Fiat Panda with not even 32.000K is now our little baby. Last week we got a phone call from Toyota Andreae that we could come for a look on saturday. As soon as we got there we fell in love. After a quick checkup and a testdrive we knew enough. This is going to be the car for our MONGOL RALLY 2010! London, hold tight. Cuz the Dutchies are coming in a ferocious Panda!
Our gassponsor was telling stories of such greatness about our trip that his dad C. Boshuizen sr. couldn't resist anymore. In one day not one but
two companies gave their word of sponsorship. Boshuizen Beheer plus Ostheopathie Moerdijk thank you very much. Then a insurance company knocked
on our doors. Schuijt Assurantiën is willing to pay our car and road insurance. You guess where this is going... We still need a car to make
that sponsorship possible.
A very, very happy Ton & Timo
April foolsday turns out to be really well for us. At first we thought somebody was pulling a prank on us. But when we arrived at the office of TTC in Ridderkerk, a big calibration
company in the Netherlands, our worries we're soon gone. Instead of the first amount what C. Boshuizen jr. said on the phone, he now offered us to pay all of our gasoline expenses!
After a few quick maths he now donates us €1500! We stand up and salute you sir!
So no more worries about the gasfundings, next step is (obviously) a car!
TTC, Thank you very much!
We can tell what we want, but our words can't perfectly describe how/what the Mongol Rally is. That's why we put a video online from one of the drivers of last year.
We met her at the meeting in London and we we're very lucky to do so. She now has to young chaps with who she can talk for hours about the rally, and we are getting LOADS of information. "Mo" did the Rally in 2009 and still gets chills when she thinks about it. Girl, here is your
beloved car once again!
In the first bit of the video she tells her story and the second part are movies itself.
Definatly worth watching!
